First of all I want to thank you for reading my letter and giving me the opportunity to live one year in the U.S. Considering that I unfortunaetly don’t know anything about you yet, I would like to introduce myself in the following lines. So let’s get started.
My name is Melina and I’m from Germany and I live near a city with my mother, my step-father, my brother and my little cute cat. We live in a nice house with a garden and a terrace. My mother works as an office clerk and my step-father is a service technician. My older brother is still a student and we have a pretty good relationship. On weekends we like to do what we call a movie night and while watching movies we prefer to eat pizza or oven cheese with baguette and pepper.
At my high school I learn the languages English and French. My favourite subjects are Biology, English, Theatre and PE. A normal day in my week starts at 6 am. At 7:25 am I have to take the bus to school because my school starts at 7:55 am and ends at 2:40 pm.
Sport is a very important part of life for me. Since I was 8 years old. I have been playing ‘soccer on bikes’ two times a week. Here in Germany we call it ‘Radball’. Furthermore, I go to the gym two times a week. Moreover I love listening to music and to watch tv shows. Additional has to be mentioned that I really like reading and taking photos. I enjoy sweets and chocolate, but I also love eating fruits and vegetables.
I’m non-religious but very open minded to other people and religions. That means there would be no problem for me if you were religious or even not.
Cats and dogs are my favourite animals and I like to take care of them. When I’m alone at home I often clean my room, change the arrangement or I decorate my room. Baking is one of my favourite activities. I also help in the household, for example by doing the dishes or by taking out the trash.
I like to try new things, finding out about cultures, people and languages. So yes, I’m a very curious person who is always interested in something. I think that living in the U.S.A. will be an awesome experience for me and it will have a big influence on my life, my personality and my independence. I’m very happy that I’ll soon get the chance to know you, your culture and your country.
What I forgot to mention is, that I love traveling very much and I can’t wait for the trip to America and to see what it’s like there. I really hope to get the chance to become a part of your family and to live with you like I was your real daughter. In return I could show you parts of the German culture, for example some of our traditional meals.
Thank you so much for taking time to read my letter and for giving me the chance to live with you, the chance for a second home and family.
