Let me introduce our family and especially me. My name is Nadja and I come from Slovakia, small country in the Central Europe. I live in a small town. I like it here. I live with my parents and older brother. My father works as a manager in an energetics company. He has been working there for 20 years. My mother has her own business. She works as an economic and administrative consultant in various kinds of projects for public and private sector. My older brother is in the last class at High school. He was in the USA. He was in Oregon for one semester. We live in house with garden. I have my own room. We have a big family. My grandparents from father side are retired. My father is the oldest child and he has got a sister and a brother. Both are married and have children. From mother side I have only grandma because grandpa died 15 years ago. My grandma is retired. She had her own business – she had a small shop in our town. My mum has got two sisters and a brother. Both my aunts are married and have children. My uncle is single. All my family live here. We often meet altogether. I love my parents and my brother. We have friendly atmosphere at home. When we finish school and all our optional lessons and my parents their work we meet at home at about 5 p.m. I think that I have very good parents and good brother. I like spending time with them because they are funny, interesting and I am not bored with them. My parents take care of us very well. We spend time together at home.
I started school when I was 6 years old. I attended primary school. My favourite subject were History, Geography and Sport. In the seventh class we had ski course, it was 4 night stay. I had some school activities such as ceramics and pottery lessons, swimming course or I went to folk dance. I had many good friends at school and nowadays I am still in connection with some of them although they study at different secondary schools. Now I attend a secondary school in my town. I go to school with my mum by car or I walk there. I quite enjoy school. My most favourite subjects are Biology, Sport and of course English language. In the afternoon I usually study for next day. After graduating from secondary school I’d like to attend a university. I’m really looking forward to studying in the United States. I’m very curious about how and what is taught in lessons.
My most favourite hobby is playing tennis. I have been playing tennis since I was 6. I am in local tennis club. I play tennis 3 times a week and I have fitness classes too. At the weekend we have some trainings or club matches. When it’s tennis season we play tennis competitively. Frequently we travel for tournaments. In the future I’d like to see the top 10 players playing tennis at Wimbledon, French Open or US Open. It is my Dream. Every year our club is organizing tennis camp for us. I love it there. With my family we have many hobbies in common. We do various kinds of sports. For example cycling and hiking. During summer we altogether go for a weekly holiday in Slovakia. We visit caves, castles and museums. Slovakia has got rich natural and cultural heritage. For more than 10 years we have been traveling to High Tatras for a several-days trips every year. We travelled alone or with friends of our family. In winter we go skiing. We have many good possibilities here in Slovakia and this year we went skiing also to Austrian Alps for a week.
I like decorating and doing some creative things. Last year we moved to house and I decorated it and especially my room. I painted pictures and my pillows too. One of my wall is full of frames with photos. My passion is also fashion. I love dresses, skirts, jeans. I like following last trends. I follow on my Instagram fashion sites or fashion girls. Then I enjoy baking. I like it. I bake birthday cake to my brother every year. I used to watch “Fabulous Cakes” on TV and then tried to do beautiful cake myself. When I have enough time, I like doing DIY and watch TV.
I’d like to go abroad and study at high school in the USA. During my stay in the USA I would like continue in playing tennis and also try some other sports, e.g. basketball which is popular in your country, or another kind of team or individual sport. I’d like to improve my English, get to know new culture, new people, which will certainly be useful for my future life. From a study stay I expect to get to know not only a different culture, but maybe also a different way of life, other customs and traditions than they are there in my home country. I’ll be able to compare living in Europe and the USA from my own experience. I am very curious about your nature and climate as well. I am interested also in customs and habits of your family, how you spend your time at home, your free time, what are your rules etc. I am really looking forward to meeting your family, maybe other members of your family or your friends and I am thankful if I get an opportunity to stay in your home.
