First of all, I would like to thank you for reading my letter. Although we have not met together before, I hope that the following lines will make you impress all about me, my life in Vietnam and my desire of spending a year with you in the US.
My name is Thao, you can also call me Dion. I live in a large and modern city in Vietnam. Currently, I am a student in Advanced Literature class at my high school. I can say for sure that I spend almost my time studying at school and just go home after 6 pm every day and I enjoy the rest of time in the day with my big family. The numbers of member of my family are five, my jovial grandmother, my parents, my elder brother, who is also a student and me. My mother is a housewife and she also owns a small shop. She is very nice and loves having a good gossip with our neighbors. My father works as an engineer for an administrative company and he is really the opposite of my mother because he is quite discreet and just wants to share his time with family.
My family describe me as a cheerful, outgoing and a little adventurous person. Truthfully, I really love challenge which is my reason for choosing to be an exchange student to have more experiences from a new life in a new country before my graduation. If a family chooses students, I think that they can consider me because I enjoy being around and making new friends a lot. Most of my friends say that I am quite humorous and liberal in disposition. Therefore, I believe that I can make you feel comfortable and happy when we are together. Especially, I really love going camping at the weekend as well as doing extracurricular activities. For that reasons, if you also like going outside for some interesting things, I think we will be good friends.
I want to say that my biggest dream is to travel around the world and I believe that being an exchange student will be a good opportunity for me to understand more about American culture and gain valuable experiences in a different environment. This is also the reason why I want to meet you as soon as possible. It will be pretty great for us spending more time together to get to know each other better. I am looking forward to show in you all about my country, helping you cook delicious Vietnamese cuisine, telling you about traditional festivals in Vietnam like Tet, The New Year’s Eve,… I am sure that they will be my most memorable memories during my stay in the US.
To be one of members of your family is one of the happiest thing in my life. I extremely hope that we will have wonderful times together.
