LETTER FROM Adriana

Adriana

Dear future host family,

My name is Adriana and I am 15 years old. I live with my mother, my father and my younger sister Paula. My sister is four years younger than me, and I love playing with her.

I live in a small suburban area next to Madrid, called Las Rozas (Spain). It is a great place for families because it has lots of parks, schools, sports facilities, restaurants, etc.
My school is quite big (2000 students), and it is around ten minutes away by car. In the morning I start lessons at 8.15 am, I have three classes and one break, after lunch I have an extra four classes and I finish at 4.15 pm. I enjoy the school atmosphere and spending time with my close friends. Two years ago, I went to another school for a year since my mother started working at that school. I made lots of friends, and we are still in contact. It was an international school and classes were conducted in English.

During the week I also attend dancing, ice skating and horse riding classes. I also like painting and listening to music like Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo, they are my favorite singers. I also spend time watching TV and my favorite TV show is The Vampire Diaries. I like reading fantasy such as the Cruel Prince or mystery books like the Inheritance Games. I love watching movies, my favorite is Black Widow but also all Marvel movies. I like baking and cooking, I know how to cook basic Spanish food so I would totally love to cook for my host family.

I would describe myself as an extrovert person who is also kind and respectful. I am very social since I had to go to another school for a year. I am lucky to have many friends, they will all agree that I am a person who loves to make people laugh or smile, who is extremely comfortable to be around and someone you can talk to when you need to. I enjoy group activities and social interaction I also tend to express my excitement; I am empathic with people around me most of the time.

I love traveling and international culture, so I have had the chance to visit different countries like Czech Republic, Austria, France, United Kingdom, Greece, Hungary, Finland, etc. I totally enjoy when on holidays we go to the beach, and I can play with my family or friends in the sand or go swimming in the ocean. I like snorkeling with my dad and watching all the colorful creatures of the ocean. I love animals, mostly dogs, I do not have any pet, but I would love to.

I want to truly thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of your family. Becoming an exchange student is a wonderful opportunity for me to experience what the American life is like, allowing me also to improve my English, meet new people and challenge myself which it will help me for my future goals since my future intention is to study and work abroad.

I am looking forward to meet you and be part of your family and your community, learn from you and your family, participate on any community activities and also help you to experience and understand my culture.

I can’t finish this letter without saying thank you for host student and make my dream come true.

Kind regards,

Adriana
