Dear host family,
My name is Andrea, I am 16 years old, I have been dreaming about coming to the United States to study for a long time and that is why I am very happy to write this letter to introduce myself. I live in a town 30 minutes away from Barcelona, Spain. In my house we are a family of five: my parents, my brother who is 20 years old, my sister who is 17 years old, and finally me, the youngest one, who is 16 years old (but I will be 17 before I arrive in the US). My house is very cozy, it has 4 bedrooms, one for each member, a very big dining room to be able to spend time together as a family, and three big terraces that we always use in summer. My town is small, everybody knows everybody and my high school is there.
I am a responsible, empathetic, sociable, caring and friendly girl….
My day to day during the week is quite repetitive, I get up at 7 am to go to school, I have class from 8 to 14:30 and right after I go home for lunch. I spend my afternoons doing different things: Such as reading a book, watch a series, some afternoons I hang out with my friends. Another thing I’m very passionate about is music: I spend all day listening to songs, and I love going to concerts of my favorite singers. I dream of going to some of these artists: Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and more.
One day a week I take English classes in order to improve my level.
On weekends I take the opportunity to spend time with my family, or to see my friends that I haven’t been able to see during the week, I go to the cinema, or to Barcelona….
Since I was little my dream has always been to spend a year studying in the USA, I love your culture, I would spend hours watching series recorded in the United States to see what life is like there, I watch videos of teens living the experience of my dreams to feel closer to me.
What I would like to ask of my host family is that they welcome me as one of their family, that they get to know me and give me the opportunity to fulfill my dream.
I would like you to show me your culture, your traditions and everything that surrounds you and everything that is important to you.
Another thing that makes me very excited about this experience is to be able to live life in an American high school, to be able to do your subjects, participate in sports and many other things.
Finally, I want to thank you for the altruistic gesture that you make by welcoming young students like me, who want to grow and get to know your culture and your routines, thank you.
I would be very happy to come to your home!
