LETTER FROM Arianna

Arianna

Dear future host family,

I am very excited to write this letter since it means that one of my biggest dream is becoming true.

To be honest, I don’t know exactly where to begin to describe myself.

I’m a teenager who live in a great city, my school is inside it.

I’m a positive, solar and joyous person.

I’m polite and I think I am also a friendly girl but sometimes, especially in new situation, I am a little shy.

I’m ambitious and competitive when it comes to school and sports.

I love traveling. I travelled with my parents around the world since I was 4 years old. We have visited lot of countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Cuba, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, NIcaragua, Morocco, South Africa, Mozambique and so on. Thanks to this travels, I think I developed an open mindset, as we tried to live the experience as close as possible to the local culture

I like to understand new cultures, to try new food and to live different experience.

I like hanging out with my mates and spending time with the people of my age.

I usually spend my free time doing few of my hobbies. One of them is reading. I read all kind of books and I love the American and the English literature.

I like also doing sports. I have played volleyball for four year, sport that I love, I’ve practiced artistic gymnastic for seven years and swimming for ten. I have always been attracted by the American sports like Baseball, Football and Lacrosse. I wished I could practice one of this sports once I will be in the US.

I am passionate about Arts (Architecture, Sculpture and Painting). In fact, I attend an Art school in my Country. I have recently chosen to do a Design specialization and I’m loving it. I like all the different types of Art and for this reason I like visiting Museums.

What about my family? There are four of us: my dad, my mother, my sister and I. Even if we are all different from each others, we have a great relationship and we spend a lot of time together. I love the relationship with my family because we can speak openly about plenty of things. My parents can both provide challenges and support me and my sister to help us in our growth. Me and my sibling have a good relationship even though we are of different ages. Despite we have different interests for the age diversity, we spend a lot of time together. Both of us have in common the passion for traveling and a passionate love for pets. In fact we have two adorable foster cats (who I forgot to mention) whom we rescued and cared for with love.

I am wishing to do this experience for a lot of reasons.

Firstly, I want lo live in a different reality from the one I’m living in. I have dreamed of living the famous ‘American Dream’ since I can remember. I have always wanted to celebrate the Thanksgiving day with my future host family and share the lifestyle that in my Country doesn’t exist like going to the Prom or the Graduation ceremony. Someway, given I read a lot of English books and watched a lot of American tv series, it’s like I’ve always been there. I’m fascinated of the variety of culture that can cohabit in US.

Secondly, I want to try a different system education from the Italian one. I would like to choose which subjects and courses I want to study/follow and I would be enthusiastic to study American History.

In addiction, I would like to improve my English knowledge and widen my mindset even more. I like to challenge myself. Talking about the English language, I would like to work on my pronounce and hopefully to expand my vocabulary.

I’m expecting from this experience lots of unforgettable moments, strong friendships and a greater cultural baggage.

I can’t wait to be there!

Thanks for your time in reading this letter.

Yours,

Arianna
