There’s a line from a book called The Time We Had that says “I thought I knew exactly what I wanted, where I was going, what I was doing and why I was going. But lately things seem more confusing” as I read that I realized that if I had read that sentence several years ago I would have identified with it, but when I read it I knew where I wanted to go and I’m not confused about it. And that is why I am now writing this letter and introducing myself to what in the future could be my host family.
My name is Celia. I would love to go on an exchange to learn more about your culture, traditions, to get to know a new country and to make new friends. I would also like to teach you our culture and traditions. I am very grateful for this new opportunity and I will do my best to make my stay a good experience for me and for you.
I consider myself a cheerful person, and although at the beginning I am a bit shy, I am quite sociable. I’m independent because since I was little I have gone to a camp every summer for a fortnight and there we have to know how to do everything on our own. I’m very empathetic and I like to help people whenever I can. I like cooking a lot, especially if they are desserts, since I was little it has entertained me a lot and it is one of my biggest hobbies; I also like to spend time with my family and friends; listen to music, one of my favorite singers is Taylor Swift, I love her songs and all her albums, but especially reputation. I do boxing, I’ve been doing it for a short time but I really like it; I also play volley, but not professionally, with my friends; and I play padel with my father and my brother. I love Christmas, traveling and getting to know new places, also animals, especially dogs. I like watching movies, sunsets, stars, and learning new things. My favorite subject is biology. I would like to study biotechnology engineering and in the future I would like to create a company of facial creams, and I would also like to create a shelter for animals.
About my family, I have a little brother who I love spending time with. We usually go out to the playground to play basketball together because he likes it so much. My parents are separated, but as they get along well we usually go to the cinema together or to lunch on birthdays. With my mother I like to play board games, cook, go for walks, we do boxing together and we also like to go to the cinema. And with my father I play paddle tennis, we go bowling, we travel a lot, we go shopping, we play cards and we also go rollerblading and cycling.
Finally I would like to thank you for the opportunity of this new experience and for welcoming me in your home, I know that this is going to be a unique experience in my life and I am very grateful for it.
