LETTER FROM Mathias

Mathias

Hi! My name is Mathias and I live in Norway.

All through my childhood I have been very active. When I was a kid I often went on hikes in the mountains, trips in the woods, I went skiing in the winter, and over all I loved being outside and in activity. As I have grown older I still love being in activity. My physical health is very good, In the spring and in the summer I like running, and when the autumn/winter comes around I like training strength at home instead. I have my own room at home where I have basically all the equipment a training room needs. Training is something that I want to keep on doing when I go on an exchange year, and I want to buy a membership at a training center nearby. I generally prioritize to be healthy, and I like to have a healthy diet.

Some of my favorite things to do is to take photos and edit both videos and photos. I like to listen to music, that is something I do every single day. I really like to hang out with my friends as well and be social, and I also enjoy spending time with my family. Something that I find very relaxing is to draw, drawing is a great way for me to calm down in times where there are lots of stress. And I also like to wander around in cities or towns and just explore the surroundings.

I have been living in a small place all of my life, and one of the reasons to why I am going on an exchange year is to experience how it is to live a place with more people. I really love being in big cities, because there are so much to do there. We have our own house, and I live half an hour away from my school, which means I take the bus everyday.

I have very good grades at school, and I have always had that, so I hope that I will be able to get good grades when I go on the exchange year as well. Last summer I went on a language course in Malta, which is a tiny island right below Italy. My English grew so much from that trip, and I am very comfortable when I speak English, which I almost do at a daily basis.

If I were to describe myself I would say that I’m very positive, I’m an optimist, I am creative, I am spontaneous and adventurous, and I am also very independent and I solve most problems by myself.

I am not sure of what I want to be in the future. The only thing I know is that I want to have a job where I am creative, where I get to talk English, and I would also like a career where I use the camera and edit and that kind of stuff.

Some of the goals I have is to travel the world, to move to the US and live in a city there. I want to go to Los Angeles. I also want to get my own apartment before I am 20 years old.

The reason that I want to live with a host family is because I think its easier to get used to the culture that way. I also think it is nice to have somebody that already knows the area, that can show me around and introduce me to where I’m going to live. I also love animals, especially cats and dogs, so if I get lucky maybe the host family I go to has that.

To end my letter I want to say thank you, for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams and study abroad for a whole year. I really look forward to meet you, and I am already excited for all the memories we are going to make.
