Dear host family, I’m Matilde and live in Italy.

My family is composed of my father, my mum, my brother who is older than me and of course me!

I Forgot to mention my adorable cat, he is a European cat: brindle and gray. He is ten years old. Also, last year we found a kitty and saved her. She was so sweet and funny, but unfortunately she went missing. I really miss her because I love animals and I was very fond of her.

I live just with my dad because my brother moved this year to university. My mom lives very close to us, so I often see her. Together we like taking walks, going shopping and playing board games. With my dad I share one of my big passions: F1.

We watch every grand prix, talk about F1 news and sometimes we watch historical grand prix. He also took me to watch Belgian Gp: an incredible experience. Last September I went to Monza Gp with one of my closest friends who is a formula 1 fan too. In general I’ve done a lot of travels through Europe and Italy with my parents by our camper. I’m really grateful for all the beautiful things they let me see.

I like watching sports but also practicing it. I’ve been doing gymnastics for 8 years but last year I signed up for the gym with a friend. She did gymnastics too. Sometimes we miss all our friends and the coach, because it was like a big family, but I enjoy going to the gym and doing my train program. Also, it allows me to have more time to study and hang out with friends. With my group I usually have lunch in my town and take a walk, we go to the cinema, to see shops, to ice-skate… we also stay at home and play cards or watch movies.

My friends are happy for me for doing the exchange student experience, but they also tell me that they will really miss me. I will miss them too, but I’m really looking forward to leaving and to getting to know you! I’m friendly and always excited to meet new people and to discover new cultures. I’m excited to attend an American high school, to live in an American family! I’ve already been in the USA and I attended a summer camp. I loved all about it: the trips, the games and I really loved people too, so I’m sure I will love the time spent with you. This experience will be also important for my growth and for my English.

Another of my passions is cooking and I always cook for everybody at home. In general in my family we share all the housework and everybody does everything, but we have some tasks that we do more than others. Mine are tidying my bedroom, laying and cleaning the table and cooking. As I said before, I enjoy the last one. My mum is very good at cooking and she taught me, but I also like to mix new ingredients and do some “experiments” (they don’t work every time). So I will be really happy if you would make me taste foods that are new for me and of course, if you want, I can teach you some Italian dishes and have fun!
