Dear future host family,

My name is Sophia and I am looking forward to meet you soon. I am writing this letter to introduce myself to you. Firstly, I am 16 years old and I live in Germany in the countryside. I love traveling very much, mostly to warm countries like Spain, Greece or Italy and I also think that I can adept well to an unfamiliar environment and will make friends quickly, because I have moved many times.

But back to my current surroundings, I live in a house with a garden and my school is 15 minutes away in a small town where most of my friends live too. My favorite series are „pretty little liars“ and „the vampire diaries“ and my taste in music is very mixed. Some of my favorite foods are sushi, goulash with spaetzle or all kinds of smoothies and my dream job is, to become a lawyer, but the course is very demanding and it takes a long time, so another possibility would be something with a lot of math. Then, I am friendly and helpful and i have a lot of empathy towards others.

My mother is psychologist and my stepfather works by Shell. I have a younger brother who is 9 years old and I have a family dog who is almost 3 years old. She is a weimaraner. Additionally, we have a cat for a year which previously belonged to my aunt. I am helping around the house for at least half an hour every day in different areas and I also tidy my room by myself and do my own laundry. My family and I love playing board games at home, my brother and mine favourite game is monopoly and sometimes we go out to eat in a restaurant.

At the moment, I am in class 10 and my favorite subjects are math, physics and music. In my freetime, I play tennis and I go boxing. I prefer to spend my time with my friends, or going to gym and listen to music. My friends also go to the gym, so I can easily combine both. I also had piano lessons for like 8 years, but I have only been doing it casually for a year now.

Now to my motivations for a year abroad in the USA. First of all, this is a unique opportunity to get to know a completely different continent so well and it is a big dream of mine to attend a high school in the USA one day and I am really excited to gain new experiences. Of course, I also hope that my English will improve and that I will make new friends from other countries. I am hoping to have a nice time with you as a host family and I am sure that we will get along well. Last but not least, I would like to thank you in advance for being willing to accept me into your family and for giving me the opportunity to have this experience.
