Dear Host Family,

My name is Alexandra, and I am very excited about the opportunity to spend a year in the United States as part of this exchange program. I am 16 years old and I live in the city in Slovakia with my family. I have an older brother David. He is 19 years old and I also have 2 small dogs, chihuahuas. I would love to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about who I am a why I have chosen to pursue this amazing experience.

I have always been passionate about dance, music, and traveling. Dancing has been a big part of my life since I was a child, and it allows me to express myself creatively and stay active. I have been dancing now for 12 years. I also enjoy listening to and playing music.Traveling has opened my eyes to new experiences, and I love discovering different traditions, foods, and ways of life. I mostly enjoy vacations/traveling near the sea because I am a fan of sea creatures and sea life in general.

The main reason I want to spend a year at an American high school is to step out of my comfort zone, improve my English, get more independent and experience a new culture firsthand. I believe this experience will help me grow both personally and academically. I am especially looking forward to meeting new people, participating in school activities, and becoming part of your family’s daily life.

I am a responsible, positive, and open-minded person who enjoys making new friends and learning from others. I hope to share my own culture with you while embracing yours. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be welcomed into your home and cannot wait to create wonderful memories together.
