Dear host family,

At first, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read this letter and giving me the chance to become a part of your family.

My name is Louisa, and I am 16 years old. I live together with my dad, my mom and my little brother in the south of Germany. I think we have a very good relationship and it’s always fun to do things as a family, e.g. going on vacation or playing games. My brother is three years younger, but unfortunately taller than me. Theo is a very funny guy. We never really argue.

In general, it’s easy for me to get along with other people. I would describe myself as a very happy person who loves to laugh. I have a lot of fun together with my friends, and I love to have other people around. With my friends I like going to the movies, going shopping or just relaxing at the nearby lake. I enjoy that my parents trust me when I am with my friends. I think I am a reliable person.

I also like planning and organizing things, for example, a great evening with my best friend. I love travelling to other countries, tasting their typical food and just getting to know their cultures. That’s the reason why I’m taking more language courses at school. Actually, English is my favorite subject. My friends would describe me as an ambitious, but also loyal and kind person.

In my free time, I dance “Jazz Dance” and “Hip-Hop”. I really love dancing because it is a good contrast to school. Sometimes I also go rowing on the nearby lake. Another hobby is cooking or preparing healthy food. My favorite foods are Avocado-Sushi, Salads and bowls. But I also love burgers.

Since I was young I always had the dream of travelling to the USA but I’ve never been there. I really want to get to know the American way of living and not only the “Hollywood perspective”. I want to get to know the real USA, the people, their cultures, traditions and I want to improve my English. I look forward to making new friends and spending a great year with you in the USA.
