LETTER FROM Iroha

Iroha

Dear Host Family,

Hello! My name is Iroha, and I am a 16-year-old student from Kyoto, Japan. I am very excited about this exchange program. Kyoto is known for its beautiful temples like Kinkaku-ji and Kiyomizu-dera, offering stunning views of the city.

Thank you so much for welcoming me into your family. I’m excited to get to know you and share experiences!

I live with my father, mother, older sister, and younger sister. We are very close, and we love spending time together, such as traveling, snowboarding, and skiing. My father taught me how to snowboard, and we love spending time outdoors as a family.

I like taking initiative and working with others. I have been president of the student council in both elementary and junior high school. I enjoy working with others to achieve goals and create something meaningful. I also participated in sports festivals, where I gained confidence speaking in front of many students. As a member of the junior high basketball team, we worked hard and made it to the prefectural tournament. It was such an exciting experience, and I hope to join sports activities in the U.S. like basketball, as I believe sports are a great way to build friendships. If you like sports too, I’d love to play together or watch games with you!

At school, I enjoy spending time with friends, studying, and taking pictures. History is my favorite subject, but I also love English. One of my hobbies is photography, especially capturing memories with others. I would love to take pictures with you, if you’re open to it!

I also love watching movies. My favorite is Jumanji because it’s both funny and exciting. I also enjoy action and romantic films, such as Kimi ni Todoke. If you enjoy movies too, I’d love to watch them together and hear your recommendations!

I’m cheerful, outgoing, and excited to experience new things. I look forward to learning more about American culture and your family traditions. My dream is to make friends from all over the world, and I believe improving my English will help me do that.

When I join your family, I’d love to have dinner together and talk about our days. If you’d like to know more about Japan, feel free to ask!

Thank you for reading my letter. I look forward to meeting you and creating wonderful memories together!
