Dear Host Family,
My name is Adam, I’m from Poland. I live with my parents as well as my older brother. We also have a small dog, Kodi. I would say we are a caring, warm, and sociable family – just the kind of people you would love to have as neighbors ;). We love to travel together. Our last adventure was a road trip in Australia and New Zealand; it was incredible.
I am an outgoing person. I like to spend time with my friends. Actually, I go out with them almost every weekend, especially when it gets warmer outside. I always try to be helpful. I also don’t take myself too seriously. I really like to joke around with others, even if the jokes are about me. I can be assertive – if I don’t like something, I’m not afraid to express it, but don’t get me wrong – I don’t like arguments; it’s the opposite. I try to avoid them by giving my opinions on something and not hiding them until the very end.
I am curious about the world, which leads to one of my biggest passions – traveling. I love to experience new cultures, habits, food, landscapes, and people. I am excited to make journey plans because it gives me more knowledge about the places I visit. I have been to 22 countries so far, but I hope to visit many more in the future.
I am also an athletic person. I took up tennis around 6 months ago. Now this is my favorite sport and my passion; I’m excited for every training session. I am interested in football (soccer), and I play it with my friends once a week. I also enjoy watching matches, and my favorite team is FC Barcelona. At school, I play volleyball a lot, and I am really keen on it. I even won a bronze medal with my school team in my city’s high school volleyball championship. I love skiing; I have been doing it every winter since I was 3 years old. Recently, I have tried surfing and wakeboarding, and I really enjoy them. On my latest trip to New Zealand, I completed some trekking tracks, and it is also something that makes me happy. I go to the gym several times a week too.
When it comes to food, my favorite cuisines are Italian, Japanese, and obviously Polish. I love pasta, Neapolitan pizza, sushi, ramen, pierogi, and schabowy (Polish schnitzel), to name a few. My favorite holiday is probably Christmas. I have the opportunity to get together with my whole family at the dinner table and spend a few days with them talking and eating some traditional Polish dishes made by my grandma. I have a few small traditions with my immediate family. Every weekend, we eat breakfast and dinner together. Sometimes we like to walk our dog together in the forest.
While being an exchange student, I hope to meet lots of wonderful people. I want to see how they live, learn about the cultural differences, share my life with them, and become a part of theirs. I wish to tell them more about Poland and my life here. I have always wanted to visit the USA, and this exchange program is a great opportunity not only to see it but also to get to know it from the inside, as a citizen.
As I said before, I have a dog, so living with one wouldn’t be a problem for me. I lead an active lifestyle, and it would be amazing to live with a family that shares the same approach.
