Dear future Host Family,

My name is Mara, and I am 16 years old. I consider myself a friendly, responsible, and kind person. At first, I can be a bit shy, but once I feel comfortable, I become more confident and affectionate. I am also a perfectionist and sometimes a little impatient.

One of my greatest passions is traveling, as it allows me to experience new things and discover different cultures. I have been lucky enough to travel around the world thanks to my mother’s work. I’ve had unforgettable moments, like when we went to Iceland and saw the Northern Lights, an experience I will always treasure. I have also had the chance to visit the United States twice, first to Florida and later to New York.

I really enjoy spending time with my friends and family. One of my favorite activities is visiting my grandparents, especially helping my grandfather harvest rice. This has become a special tradition, as we go every year to lend a hand. I also love cooking with my grandmother, especially preparing my favorite dish: paella. Spending time with my mother is also something I really enjoy, particularly when we travel together to create new memories.

Currently, I am studying in Spain and am in the final year of “ESO,” which is the equivalent of 10th grade in the United States. Academically, I am a dedicated student, with a particular interest in chemistry and physics. My goal is to pursue a degree in Pharmacology. Although my English is quite good when it comes to understanding it, I feel shy speaking it. I am working on overcoming this fear and improving my speaking skills. My goal is to improve my English so that I can communicate with people from around the world, explore new places, and immerse myself in different cultures.

In my free time, I love taking walks with my friends around my town and shopping in Valencia. During the summer, I spend time at my beach house, where I enjoy paddleboarding in the mornings and swimming in the pool in the afternoons.

I am very excited about the opportunity to study in the United States because I believe it will help me grow as a person, improve my English, and give me a better perspective on the opportunities I have in life.

I look forward to meeting a wonderful family and beginning this unique experience.
