Dear Host Family,
I am so happy and excited to write this letter, and I cannot wait to share a little bit about myself and my life with you. It feels surreal to think that I might soon become a part of your family, and I am truly looking forward to this amazing journey.
Let me introduce myself: my name is Federica, I am 16 years old, and I come from a small village in the south of Italy. I live with my mom and my dad. We are a very close-knit family, and I share a deep bond with them. They are my pillars of strength, always there to guide and support me through every challenge and success in life.
People who know me often describe me as a sweet and somewhat shy person, but once I grow close to someone, I show my truest and brightest self. I believe one of my best qualities is my desire to help others, even in difficult situations. When I see someone happy or feeling good because of something I’ve done, it brings me an indescribable sense of joy. I also cherish my sense of humor, which plays a huge role in my family life. Laughter fills our home, and I firmly believe it is the best way to create connections and lighten even the toughest moments.
One of the biggest passions in my life is dance. It’s more than just a hobby for me—it’s my greatest source of happiness and self-expression. I practice classical, modern, contemporary, and heels dance, and each style has its own unique way of helping me connect with my emotions. Dance, along with music, feels like an escape to a world where I can truly be myself, free from worries and stress. When I dance or listen to music, I feel as if I’m transported to another dimension, and it’s a feeling I treasure deeply.
In addition to dance, I have two hobbies that hold a special place in my heart, thanks to my mom: writing and drawing. These allow me to explore my imagination and connect with the world around me. For example, I love drawing what I see or letting my mind wander to create something entirely unique. Writing is equally special to me—it gives me the opportunity to combine my thoughts, emotions, and experiences into stories. Both of these hobbies are not just pastimes; they are ways for me to express myself and find peace.
As I embark on this incredible journey, I have several hopes and dreams for what I will gain. I want to face my insecurities and grow as a person. I hope to step out of my comfort zone and learn more about myself, as well as about the world around me. I have always felt a special connection to this experience, as if it is calling me for a reason, and I want to explore that feeling. Most importantly, I dream of creating meaningful and lasting relationships with my host family and the friends I will make along the way.
Although I don’t know you yet, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Opening your home and heart to me is a gift I will never take for granted. I cannot wait to meet you, learn about your life and culture, and share my own with you. I am filled with excitement and gratitude as I imagine the memories we will create together.
