LETTER FROM Xaínza – Scholarship Recipient

Xaínza – Scholarship Recipient

Dear Host Family,

The excitement I feel as I write this letter is indescribable, so thank you so much for taking the time to read it.

I want to tell you a little about myself so you can get to know me better. My name is Xaínza, and by the time I arrive in the United States, I’ll already be sixteen. I live in the north of Spain, with my mother, my father, and my sister, Candela. We also have a Chihuahua named Toky, whom we love very much. I really enjoy spending time with my family, especially when we take trips in our motorhome whenever we have the chance.

I consider myself a sociable, curious person who is eager to learn new things. I’m very determined when it comes to my ideas and goals. I enjoy being kind and meeting new people. One of my favorite things to do is write (in fact, I’m working on publishing my own book), read (especially philosophy because it’s my favorite subject, and I love exploring other people’s thoughts and ideas), and play the piano (I’m passionate about music). I take my studies very seriously, and this opportunity makes me incredibly happy, so I hope to make the most of it.

I also love good food, though I’m not a big fan of spicy dishes or carbonated drinks, as they don’t sit well with me. I enjoy celebrating special occasions like New Year’s Eve, Christmas, and birthdays. I love colors (especially pink) and glitter, but I also appreciate elegance and have a strong interest in fashion. On the other hand, I love dressing up and have a closet at home full of costumes of all kinds—princesses, witches, animals, and more.

This experience excites me so much because it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and I deeply appreciate that there are people willing to host us for a year.

I hope this letter gives you a better idea of who I am!
