Dear host family,

My name is Anne and I am 15. I am an exchange student from Germany and am extremely excited to go to the United States. A reason why I want to take part in this exchange is that I’m first of all very interested in the way other family’s live together and how they’re everyday live is. But I’m also very interested in the school system of the United States. I already have a bit of experience with being away from home and living in a host family because I went on a one-month trip to Mexico with my school and I lived in a host family for 2 weeks.

When I spent time with my family we often go on walks, play some card games or just watch TV together. We don’t really have the time to do that under the week because we all have busy schedules and my dad is just home at the weekend. But my mom, my sister and I always eat dinner together and if my sister and I don’t have any schoolwork to do we sometimes watch the news together with our mom. My sister and I often talk in the evening about our day in one of our rooms or if we’re together at home in the afternoon we watch shows together.

As I already mentioned I have a pretty full schedule. I play volleyball twice a week, have ballet once a week for two hours, tutor once a week, get tutored once a week, have students council once a week and also have volleyball games on the weekends. Besides all this I love to crochet, read books and hear audio books. On top of all these things, am I a mentor and have often things to do for the 5th graders.

I also love to meet my friends and to go on walks with them and talk. We often talk about books we could read or shows we could watch. Some times we just sit next to each other and read the books the other one recommended. It’s always fun to be around them and we try to do that as often as possible. I would love to try some new sports or after school activities when I’m in the US.

I think my friends would describe me as empathic, funny and sometimes clumsy. I would say that I’m also very open minded and nice. Besides that I love to try new things and am very good in adjusting to new situations.
