LETTER FROM Vittoria

Vittoria

Hello, my name is vittoria and I’m very excited for about the opportunity to spend time with you and experience life in your country. I would love to introduce myself and share a little about my life, interests and what I hope to gain from his experience.

I come from loving family that includes my mother, my father, and my two brothers, Francesco and Giacomo. As far as pets are concerned I had a bunny that unfortunately passed away, not too long ago, then two goats and some turtles.

I enjoy spending time with my parents like doing shopping, going on holidays, or for example watching movies with them, because I love the feeling of being together. These are the main activities that I like doing with my family. When I go shopping with my mother, I am very happy because we spend little time together and so that’s a moment of confidence between me and her, not just to buy clothes or things we need, but also to spend time talking and maybe stopping for a drink at a café. These are moments of sharing where we have fun and tell each other about our day, that maybe doesn’t happen every day. Talking about travel, we usually go skiing every year during the winter, while the summer the destination changes every year. I really enjoy discovering new places with my family, visiting different cities and trying local foods. Besides being a chance to relax, it’s also a way to create special memories together. Finally when we have the opportunity where we are on an evening or in a rainy weekend all together, we will sit on the couch with the blanket and some snacks and we pick a movie that one of us likes. Sometimes we argue about which one we want to watch but, in the end, we always find a compromise. I love these moments because they make us feel even more connected.

Talking about me, I consider myself a rather empathetic person, even if I don’t tend to show my emotions. Basically I’m reserved, I like people to know what they need about me and my life. I am a sincere, reliable and very sociable person, I manage to acclimatize wherever I am and with whoever I am, I adapt a lot, in the sense that even if something does not suit me basically, I make it okay anyway. I always think first of the well-being of others than of mine and this aspect of my character in reality I don’t know if it’s to be considered a value or a defect because in many situations unfortunately, it can only make you feel bad.

In my free time, I like to dedicate myself to my physical and mental health. I go to the gym and play sports, but I also understanding the importance of relaxing.

Another aspect that is important to me is healthy eating. I try to eat in a balanced way, choosing nutritious foods and varying my diet as much as possible. I like to try new dishes, but at the same time I pay attention to the quality of the food and to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For this reason, I try to avoid foods that are too processed or rich in sugar and I prefer simple but genuine meals. Of course, I like to indulge in a few whims every now and then, but always with balance. I would be happy to discover new recipes and eating habits during this experience, maybe even sharing some dishes of Italian cuisine with you. I don’t have foods that I particularly favourite, I really like a lot of dishes. There are many sports that I have always wanted to try, but unfortunately the time I have available is very little and so unfortunately I have never been able to try any sports, even just for fun, not necessarily for an Olympic purpose. Although I am not a big reader, I’d love to develop that passion. I really enjoy watching TV series and listening to music. I try to go out with my friends often, maybe for lunch after school. sometimes we spend time time together studying and helping each other out. I also enjoy cooking, although it’s not a real passion. It’s more of a hobby I like to do when I’m at home. My mum taught me how to cook when I was child; so much so that when I was a kid, I wanted to be on bake-off Italia junior, television program.

From this experience, I hope to return with an optimal knowledge of the language, so that I know longer feel insecure, especially about pronunciation. But most of all, I hope to mature a lot. Leaving on my own, on the other side of the world, without knowing anyone and leaving my life in Italy for nine months, away from my friends and family, is not an experience that everyone has the opportunity to have or that in any case they have the courage to undertake. Therefore, I hope to settle in as quickly as possible and be able to have an unforgettable and positive experience. I think this experience will help me see things from a different perspective, I will be exposed to a new culture very different from my own. I hope to get the most out of it.
