LETTER FROM Isabella

Isabella

Dear host family, my name is Isabella.

I’m 15 years old, and next year I am going to the U.S on an exchange year, and I am very excited. I live in Denmark, with my family (parents, two older siblings and our two dogs). In my everyday life, I attend school and usually I have gymnastics and dance practice after. I have been doing gymnastics and dance for as long as I remember. I basically live at the studio, and it is like a second home to me. I love spending time there, doing what I love and being with my best friends. When I am not dancing and doing gymnastics myself, I help and coach the younger students. I do that twice a week, and I love it.

In my spare time I also love to spend time with my family and make a bunch of memories. I also love the holidays, which I spend with my whole family.

My favorite holiday is Christmas, because my whole family reunite, which doesn’t happen often because I have a big family, in both Denmark and Sweden. We have fun traditions that we do every year- my favorite one is on Christmas-eve, where we dance around the Christmas-tree and share sentimental gifts.

I really look forward to sharing about, the cultural differences, like food, traditions and the Danish way of life. I am really looking forward to my exchange year, because I have visited the U.S. a couple of times on family-vacations, and it is my favorite place to go. I am also very excited to experience the American high school spirit and experience. And also, taking different subjects/classes, than what we have here in Denmark.

I hope to learn a lot about the culture and how everyday life is in the U.S. and I think I will learn a lot about myself too, like my strengths and weaknesses, and in general grow personally. I would describe myself, as a person who has a positive mindset about most things, and I always want to learn and grow- I think an exchange year will really contribute to that. Although I am very open, to new things and people, I can sometimes be quiet and shy- but that usually fades away with time.

I would also like to express my greatest appreciation for you. By opening your home and thereby giving me the opportunity to be a part of your family and experience a year in the U.S.

Kind regards, Isabella
