Dear host-family,

they made me write a letter so that you can get to know me better, so here it is. My name is Lucía, I live in a house with my parents, my brother and three beautiful dogs. My parents are both the best ones in the world and i´m so glad that i have them; me and my brother get alone really well, we have the same taste in music and on some sports, so that make us connect really good; lastly, my three dogs are the cutest and most adorable ones, they are two labrador retrievers and one golden retriver. Somethings we like to do as a family are: if everyone is home we like to have lunch and dinner together and talk about our day; we like to go on family trips on vacation, we usually go to the beach cause it´s our favorite place; another thing we like to do is play boardgames together, even though my father wins almost everytime; lastly we like to go to the cinema to see the new movies that come out that we think we all would like them or even just do a movie night.

Talking about me and my personality it´s usually something that i don´t really know what to tell but i´ll try my best. I´m a chill girl that´s a little clumsy. I consider myself organised and like to keep things in place, but they may be sometimes where I can get a bit messy, not anything crazy, but messy. I´m also a really happy and optimistic girl, I don´t usually get mad about anything. I´m really creative and like to imagine my own things. I like to listen to people and try to help them, I also don´t get influenced by the people I don´t like. I feel like I´m kind and empathic, always willing to help if needed. Some weaknesses i have would be that I´m a bit too stick with the phone, it´s not something that i couldn´t live without it, but it´s just some of those days were I stay home a lot of time and use my phone. Another one I would say it´s that i get too confident about time and projects and leave it till the last minute. Of course weaknesses are something that is really hard to think for yourself, you may know where you´re strong at, but find it difficult where you´re weak, so I would say this is my personality.

Some of my favorite activities are basketball, a sport i played for, i think, 5 years, and quitted last year because i got into highschool and i didn´t really liked the team i was in. A funny story that happened playing was that i fractured my elbow with the silliest thing, i accidently tripped on a ball and fell on my elbow, they made me wear a cast for a few weeks. Another hobbie i used to do was horseback riding, it was something i really liked until one day the horse i was riding threw me off when i was 7, so that made me a little scared, even though i still kept riding them, a few years later stopped, but it´s something i´m willing to do again.

A thing that i like to do is baking little things for my family, like cakes or cookies, i have to clear that not most of the time end up tasting good. A thing that i really love to do is hang around with my friends, even if the plan is just sitting on a bench on the street and talk, is something that i love. Some of my favorite foods are: pasta, like spaghetti; soup, this one is a bit weird cause i like to eat it even on summer, it´s something that just always sits right; and lastly, sushi, those little rolls are amazing. My absolute favorite holiday is christmas, i feel its the time of reunion with your family and friends in a cozy enviroment to enjoy the holiday together. Lastly, some family traditions we have are that we always have dinner together, the whole family (grandma, grandpa, aunts…) on the special days of christmas, and by the 31 of december at 12 o´clock we eat the 12 grapes to enter the new year, it´s something that is done in Spain.

From this experience i hope to learn about the american culture and how do you spend your holidays, like thanksgiving, i also hope to be able to speak english quite better than i do now. I´m reallly excited to see how the high school is and see if there´s a big difference between Spain and America. I don´t really have any preferences, with just having the luck to live the experience it´s more than enough.

I´ve dreaming of having this experience for 3 years and I´m really happy that i finally convinced my parents and get to live this exciting trip.
