Dear host family,
First of all I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to do an exchange year in the U.S. and how excited I am to get to know you. I’ve always loved the United States and I’m overly excited to go there because it’s always been one of my biggest dreams. Although I’ve never been to the United States before, the things I heard were mostly great. It’s not that I don’t like Germany it’s just that growing up in it and living my whole life until now in it made me realize that your so called home can get a little boring from time to time. I mean it is my home country and I have my family and my friends here but I want to experience new things and get to know new people from different cultures.
Since I am an only child, I’d love to spend a few months in a new family because it can get a little lonely and boring if you spend most of your life with the same people. I know it sounds bad but I love my family and friends dearly and I would never give them up but trying something new and a bit scary has never stopped me from doing anything. Like I always say: “no risk no fun”.
I love playing badminton but I’m open to trying out new things. I also love baking, reading and going on late night walks.
The first time I’ve ever heard of doing an exchange year was from my friend who talked to me about it. She immediately had me on a hook and after I researched a few things, I started looking for organizations that would organize my exchange year.
Like I already said, I am happy to meet new people from different cultures and go to love my American high school dream.
I am looking forward to meeting you!
My dearest greetings,
See you soon!
Naomi
