Dear Host Family,

My name is Jannik, I’m 16 years old and I’m from Germany. Firstly, I want to write a few things about me, so you get to know more about me. I live together with my mother Tina, my Father Mario and my Dog Olja. We have a very strong bond as a family and do a lot of activities together. We go on vacations regularly or do family day trips, as well as watch movies or go shopping together.

My hobbies include playing soccer, going skiing, and watching sports (especially US sports). In my free time I go to soccer practice since I play for a club. Likewise, I often go to the gym and almost every weekend I go to the soccer stadium to watch a match. When I’m with my friends, we normally go to the city, helping at the sports club and playing lots of games together. At home, I try to help my parents in the household by doing chores or taking the dog out for a walk. These chores include: emptying the dishwasher, taking the trash out, cleaning my room and the house and cleaning the car.

I had the idea to do an exchange year in the US in Summer 2023, when I did a Language Course in Santa Barbara, California. I really fell in love with the country back then and was very happy to see how friendly the people there were!

That’s why I’m really looking forward to my exchange year in the United States of America. Some things I’m really excited for are learning more about American culture, meeting new friends and experiencing the high school life. I’m generally open to trying new things and gathering new experience.

Lastly, I want to wholeheartedly express my gratitude, for giving me the opportunity to do this exchange year. I’m very much looking forward to spending my time with you.
