Dear future host family,
At this point I would like to briefly introduce myself and thank you for the fact that we will soon have a great time together and that you have made this exchange possible for me.
I’m Leni, 16 years old and come from the west of Germany. I live with my mother Stefanie and my father Hendrik. Our dog Ben has been part of my family for 6 years. I have a very good relationship with my parents, I can talk to them about anything and they support me wherever they can.
We love traveling during the holidays. That’s why I’ve been to many different countries such as Italy, Spain, Greece and even the USA. But unfortunately I can’t really remember my time in the US, since my parents took the trip with me before I started school, so it’s been nine years now.
I am currently attending the 10th grade at a high school. My favorite subjects are sports, English and geography. In my free time I really enjoy meeting up with my friends. However, basketball takes up a huge part of my free time. I’ve been playing basketball for about 6 years. I currently train 3-4 times a week and I also train my club’s U10s. And of course I usually play matches on the weekends. All in all, I can be found in the gym almost every day.
Because of the many appointments, I don’t have to help as much around the house. My regular household chores are washing laundry and when I’m at home I also set the table.
I would like to take this year abroad because I really enjoy traveling and have heard lots of great stories from my friends who have already done so. It was clear to me from the start that I wanted to go to the USA. What I’m most looking forward to is getting to know a new culture and new friends. Of course, I hope to continue playing my hobby and I’m very excited to see what typical everyday life in America looks like. Especially in high school but also outside of school.
For me, it is important to experience a nice six months with you and try out lots of new things. I am happy to become a part of your family and I hope to see you soon!
Warm regards,
Leni
