Dear future host family,

at first, I want to thank you for considering giving me the chance to live a year in the United States of America. I am really excited to make an exchange year and thankful that you are giving me the opportunity to live the American way of life.

My Name is Nils, and I am 15 years old right now. I live with my mother Carina, my sister Luise, and also my dog ,,Polo” in Germany. My family is a big part of my life, as they always support me, for what I am really grateful.

There are many reasons why I think that the USA are perfect for my exchange year. I already have been two times in the USA and since then wanted to do an exchange year there. I have always been impressed by the huge diversity of the country as you have huge mountains hot canyons, beaches and many national parks. I am also a massive fan of American food. Another thing I want to see is the difference between the schools in Germany and the schools in the USA. One thing that I also really like about the American schools are the after school activities, which don’t really exist in Germany. I also want to improve my English knowledge and try to get rid of my German accent.

In my free time I am playing tennis in a club, playing the guitar, and sometimes I play soccer. I also like listening to music and meeting with friends. I am open and motivated to try out new sports that are common for the USA.

I like to try new things, find out about different cultures, people and languages. I think that living in the USA will be an awesome experience for me and that it will have a big influence on my life and personality. I hope that after the time in your family, the US will be a second home to me. I’m happy that I’ll soon get the chance to get to know the country and the American way of life.
