Dear future host family,

Before I introduce myself to you in my letter, I would first like to thank you for wanting to host an exchange student in your family. I am delighted that you have taken the time to read my letter to you and thank you very much for it. I am especially happy to be lovingly welcomed into your family to create the basis for my year abroad. It is very important to me that we will have a great time together.

I would be very happy if I could experience new cultures and the many impressions together with you. I’ve never had such a great experience before and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you. To get you excited about me, I will first write something about myself and my life so that you can get an impression of me and get to know me a better.

My name is Leona, I am 15-year-old girl who is very interested in new things and always likes to get to know different people, places and cultures

I live in a small town in the eastern part of Germany together with my mom, my dad, my older sister Lilly and our 2 cats Lucky & Luke, in a beautiful house with a garden. I have a very good relationship with my family, they are always there for me and motivate me in my plans.

I am looking forward to a wonderful and an unforgettable time. I hope that you will accept me as I am and explain your culture and customs to me

Maybe you also have children of a similar age or cute pets? That would be very great, of course, but I am happy about everyone.

At the weekends I like to meet up with my friends, go to the movies or ride my moped. During the vacations, we like to travel together as a family to get to know new destinations and metropolises. In the summer of 2024, we went to the west coast of California and did a 14-day round trip around 3 beautiful states. I was so excited that I now want to realize my big dream of doing a high school year in the USA.

Now about me and my personality. I am a very communicative and friendly girl and I love to get to know new people, cultures and countries and to have unique experiences.

I visit the 10th class of an International High School. My school day starts daily at 7.30 am and ends at 3.00 pm. I am very interested in the school subjects geography, English and sport. After completing my school and homework, I like to go to the gym and meet up with my friends in my free time. In the past, I have also enjoyed dancing, especially hip hop. But unfortunately there are no more options for this in our small town.

I would very much like to be inspired by the different sports offered at the high school during my exchange year. During my time in the USA, I would like to open up my personal horizons, further develop my personality, try out new things and, of course, speak your language.
