LETTER FROM Kiara

Kiara

Dear my host family,

Thank you for welcoming me into your home.

My name is Kiara. I live with my mother, grandfather, and grandmother in Japan. I like going to Okinawa with them, and we visit there every year. In Okinawa, we enjoy going to the beach, eating Okinawan food, and trying American foods like hamburgers, steaks, and tacos. I also love American streetwear, so I often visit vintage clothing stores or the U.S. military flea markets there.

I study business at my school. Some of my classmates are returnees with extensive overseas experiences, and there are also IB students. This makes every day exciting!

Next, let me introduce my personality. I think I am an energetic person. My strengths are staying positive all the time and having a healthy and strong body. I haven’t missed a single day of school since elementary school! Even when something unpleasant happens, it doesn’t bother me. My friends say I’m mentally strong, and I agree with them. However, I’m not very good at time management and tend to focus only on things I like. While I’m in America, I want to challenge myself with new things and work on managing my time better because I think it’s essential, especially during a study-abroad experience.

I recently took an MBTI test, and my result was ESTP-A. This makes sense to me. If you’re interested, you can search for ESTP characteristics. To explain briefly, ESTPs are energetic, action-oriented, adaptable, and observant. If you want to know more, feel free to look it up!

My favorite sports are basketball, baseball, and skateboarding, so I’d love to watch games with you. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and watching Netflix. Recently, I’ve been into songs by Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. I also love streetwear—it’s an indispensable part of my life. Music and fashion are my passions. Lastly, I enjoy talking to people and want to make many friends.

I’m currently thinking about going to university in America, so I want to improve my English skills. I’m looking forward to spending lots of fun and meaningful time with you. Once again, thank you for giving me this opportunity!
