LETTER FROM Pedro

Pedro

Hi Dear Host family,

My name is Pedro. I am 16 years old and I am Brazilian. I live in the state of São Paulo. To start talking about my family, I need to mention the city where I was born and have lived my whole life is a coastal city with a quite large population. It has the largest beach garden in the world in terms of length. I love my city; it’s a great place to live. I live with my parents and my twin sister, who is currently studying in New Zealand. We have a dog named Toby. In our free time, we usually go to the beach, play cards, and board games. My family is passionate about sports in general; regardless of what it is, we are an athletic family with healthy habits. My sister and I have practiced sports at a high level since we were little. My father is an orthopedic doctor. He is a very hardworking, dedicated, honest, and above all, loving man. He always makes a point of showing his love with many kisses and hugs. My mother is a businesswoman. She is the central pillar of the family; without her, the family would crumble. Without a doubt, she is a very dedicated and hard-working woman. She does everything for the good of the family and isn’t afraid to wake up at 4 AM to make the family’s day happen. My twin sister, who is currently in New Zealand, is not an easy person to deal with. She has a very strong personality and a high level of criticism, but there’s nothing that 16 years of living together hasn’t taught us to handle. Despite that, she is my companion for all situations. With her, I can laugh at the silliest things as well as have the deepest conversations.

I am an outgoing boy. I love to laugh and be with my friends. I enjoy meeting new people and welcoming them whenever possible. Regardless of what I decide to do, I always give my best. I started playing soccer at the age of 4, and since then I’ve fallen in love with sports. I lead a healthy life. I’m somewhat absent-minded but a guy who wants the best for people.

As I mentioned before, I love sports: skateboarding, surfing, and working out—especially soccer and footvolley. Currently, I practice footvolley much more than soccer. Footvolley is a well-known sport in Brazil and has been gaining more space in our country. Honestly, once you start playing, you can’t stop anymore. It’s an extremely addictive and fun sport. The fact that I live in a coastal city contributed to my passion for it. I count down the days to be able to play; it even seems like we’re crazy because if we could, we would play every day of the week! I hope this sport gains more recognition on the world stage. Besides practicing sports, I love card games and billiards. I enjoy eating Japanese food and Brazilian barbecue; however, I don’t have any issues with food.

With this exchange program, I hope to evolve as a person and gain new experiences—improve my English language skills, get to know a new culture, and present Brazilian culture in the truest way possible.

Thanks for considering hosting me!
