Hi future host family!

I’m Edoardo, I’m 17 years old and I live in the center of Rome, near Vatican City. Besides my dad and my mom, I have one sister, who’s a year younger than me. My father is a dentist, my mother is a psychologist and she works in a prison. She’s really funny and our relationship is very good. My dad and I have always been the copy of one another and we get along well. My sister acts like my mother, she is kind and always cares for me, we have a love and hate relationship. I really enjoy spending my time with them, going for a walk in our beautiful city or spending a weekend away from home. We also love watching films in our free time, my mother and I love thrillers.

I am a friendly and funny guy. I can be competitive, and I like winning but also try to learn from defeats in general. I’m polite and responsible. To be completely honest, I’m a bit of a lazy guy and I’m trying to be proactive towards the goal of not being lazy anymore. In fact, if I have to do something, I will do it no matter what. I have always dreamed about doing this semester, I pushed through every obstacle in my way and I’m very motivated to do this experience.

One of my biggest interests is basketball, in particular watching NBA games. I’m a Warriors fan. Other than basketball, I also like soccer and I’d like to learn more about baseball and American football. I have done rowing for 4 years and I really like the atmosphere that is created when I am on my boat on the Tevere river. I’ve also practiced water polo. My absolute favourite sport to practice is without a doubt skiing. I go to the gym thrice a week, I started a year ago and I’m enjoying the process. I also like going to the cinema and I prefer thriller films in general. I’m Italian so I like foods; some of my absolute favourites are lasagna, pizza and some typical pastas.

I’ve been to the US many times and absolutely love your fast foods; I actually got a list of restaurants to try and it is still not completed. I also love to travel. It is a passion that my mother gave me. We’ve been to many places together with my family.

From this experience I hope to gain many things: first of all, I want to improve my English even more, then I want to experience the true American life. My dream is to be able to live in America one day. I have always fantasized about the American lifestyle. I hope that I’m going to be able to see an NBA basketball game. I also hope to become more independent, with a clearer vision about my future. One thing’s for sure: I can’t wait to meet you all and I’m sure that it will forever change the way I see life. I’m going to be a completely different person, a better one, in all ways possible.
