LETTER FROM Ella

Ella

Dear host family,

I live together with my mother, my father and my brother, who is four years older than me. In general, I really enjoy spending time with my family and it’s very important to me. E.g. at home we usually eat dinner together every evening, which I really enjoy. We also like to play board games as a family and I always think it is a very nice way to spend time together. We also have two rabbits named Luna and Liam, whom I really love very much.

At the beginning I will probably be very shy and spend a lot of time in my room, because I might not feel confident enough to join in by myself. Therefore it would mean a lot to me if you could approach me at first and include me in activities, so that I can slowly feel more comfortable. Once I get to know people better, I open up and show my true character. Then I am usually an active, cheerful, and funny person who enjoys being around others. Some of my strengths are that I am patient, flexible, adaptable, humorous, and empathetic. When it comes to weaknesses, I tend to postpone things until the very last moment. Thus I sometimes make life a little harder for myself by creating unnecessary stress. But in the end I always manage to get things done.

In my free time, I do scouting and play the piano, which are my main hobbies. I also love baking and decorating cakes. Furthermore I enjoy reading, mostly fantasy and romance literature in German and English. Another activity I really like is painting, especially with acrylic. When it comes to sports, I like playing volleyball and badminton. Music is also very important to me – I love listening to it every day. My favorite food is definitely pasta, because I think you can eat pasta with almost everything. I also like pizza, burgers and vegetables like broccoli and spinach. For holidays, my family usually takes a big summer trip, often to cities, which I really enjoy. Last time, my best friend came with us, which was very special. A small family tradition we have is celebrating Easter with my dad’s side of the family, where we do a candy hunt in the garden. At Christmas, we always celebrate together with another family we have known for years.

From this exchange, I hope to improve my English and learn more about American culture and high school life. I am curious to experience a different way of living and to gain new perspectives. Furthermore I would like to get to know a lot of new people. I also hope to find a host family that I connect well with and who shares activities with me. Most of all, I wish to have a wonderful time, make many memories, and grow as a person through this adventure.

I don’t have any particular preferences, I am just curious to get to know living in the USA.

Thank you very much. I cannot wait to meet you.

Best regards,

Ella
