Dear future host family, my name is Andrea, I am 17 years old and I am very excited about the opportunity to live with you during my exchange stay in the USA.

Firstly, I would like to introduce my loving family, without whom my dream could have never come true. I live in a small village in the middle of Slovakia with my parents, older sister and twin brother. My sister Michaela works as a flight attendant. We often go on concerts together, we were on Coldplay concert last summer and it was incredible. She inspired me with this idea of doing the exchange program, because she has done it too. I spend a lot of time with my twin brother Ján, he goes to the same school as me, but not the same class. We often joke around, talk about everything and we go on football (soccer) matches or watch them on TV together also with my dad. I love my mum with my whole heart, I like baking with her (or play us music), we spend a lot of time going for walks or shopping. We enjoy traveling around the world also with my aunt, uncle and cousin. We have 2 cats, Elvira and Eugen. We have a German shorthaired pointer puppy called Hilda, I often take her for walks.

I would describe myself as an optimistic person who likes to try new things and is determined to achieve many goals which are often quickly changing. One of my plusses is that I am patient and I can adapt really quickly and easily even though I can sometimes be a little stubborn. My friends can confirm that when we started talking I was a little shy and reserved, but I am a whole different person when people get to know me. I can be a bit lazy, but I am working on it!

I often spend the weekends with my neighbors wandering around our village, visiting my family, traveling or just taking rest after the long week. I like to sleep a lot during weekends too. Every Saturday, I clean my bedroom, my wardrobe and vacuum some parts of the house. I also wash dishes.

I enjoy spending time in nature, traveling, hiking and going for walks with my friends, especially during summertime with my neighbors. We sometimes ride bikes, but I am not big fan of long rides. I’ve tried many sports, but I occasionally play badminton and go to the gym. I started jogging recently and I really like it even though my stamina is not that good yet. How I already mentioned, I enjoy watching football (soccer) matches with my family, and my little cousin sometimes persuades me to play with him. I enjoy reading books too. One of my favorite activities is definitely spending time with my friends, family and my pets. I spend a great amount of time with my animals. I like shopping and doing make-up with my friends as well as eating. My favorite food is our traditional meal “Bryndzové halušky“ which I cannot wait to be cooking with you. I am trying to eat healthy food, but I also like to get some McDonald’s and sweets. My favorite holiday is probably Christmas, because it is the time of the year when you just relax and enjoy it with your family.

I hope I will gain a great deal of good memories with you and get to know something about the USA and your culture while staying there thanks to you. I am excited to meet new people and share my culture with you while getting better in the English language. I am also excited to find new hobbies or join some sports in the USA.
