Hi, my name is Giulia, and I am 17 years old. (I will turn 18 before I arrive.) I live in a town in Tuscany, Italy.

My family consists of my mom and dad; I am an only child. I have a good relationship with them, even though sometimes we argue. I have a great bond with my mom, even though sometimes we argue, she often helps me, and a few years ago I started to open up to her. With my dad, even though I don’t see him much because he works a lot, we have a wonderful relationship. We always joke around together, and he manages to make me smile even when I’m feeling down.

I am a very friendly and sociable girl, and I make friends very easily. I love being with my friends, but sometimes I need space for myself and can come across as a bit aloof. I’m very witty and self-ironic, and I joke around a lot with my friends. I can be a bit moody; my mood largely depends on how I wake up in the morning. I’m very determined and sometimes stubborn, and I’m a bit disorganized, although I’m trying to improve. I manage to adapt well to every situation, even if it sometimes takes me a while.

My biggest passion is dance. I have been dancing since I was four years old, and by now, my dance school feels like my second home. I have built a wonderful bond with my dance classmates, and going to class with them makes me feel good. For me, dance is an outlet, whatever I can’t express with words, I let out through dancing. I don’t have much free time since I go to dance class four times a week, and school also takes up a lot of my time because I attend a scientific high school. I’m not a big fan of studying, but I manage to get by at school. I love going out with my friends on weekends. On Saturday nights, we go out for dinner and then spend the evening together. I don’t like staying home for too long because I prefer being outdoors. I’m a very energetic person, and I always need to be on the move.

My favorite celebration is New Year’s Day because it’s also my birthday. Since I was little, I’ve loved having my birthday on January 1st because we always celebrate in a big way. I’m a lover of sweets, and cheesecake is my favorite. I hope that this experience will allow me to discover new aspects of my character; I want to challenge myself, meet new people, and create new bonds, improve my English, and get to know a culture different from my own. I feel very ready to face this new experience; I can’t wait!
