Hello Host Family,

I am Amos from a little town located in southern Finland. Every other week I live with my mom who Is a vocational teacher and half of my time I live with my father who is a sales manager. I personally don’t have any pets but luckily my mom’s new partner has a German shepherd dog that I enjoy walking and playing with. With my family and friends we travel abroad 2-3 times a year, I also spend two to three weeks every summer in Croatia where my grandparents have a summer cottage next to the beach.

My favorite foods are chicken and rice, pizza, sushi, burgers and barbeque food. My strengths are courage and independence, and weakness is sometimes lack of focus mostly in school.

I’m a second-year student in vocational qualification in business because after I graduate I plan to become an entrepreneur. My strengths at school are working together in teams both face to face and online. Subjects I enjoy most are marketing, math, chemistry and physics. In my free time I sometimes play video games with my friends or if the weather is good I go to play soccer or basketball with my friends. If there is bad weather or it’s not suitable for outdoor playing I go to the gym or to the swimming pool. I enjoy going to the gym alone because it’s my own time without any disturbances. Gym Is also important to me because I was skinny once and was bullied for it many years ago.

According to my friends, I’m loyal and talkative. I am sporty and like to move and do different things with my friends but I also like lazy days alone at home.

I have two main reasons why I want to apply for exchange to USA. First I want to study in American high school because it so different from a Finnish high school culture. For example there are not so many opportunities to choose which sports you want to play. Second reason is obviously to experience the American culture and learn the language. I also would like experience downhill skiing in America because there are not so many big downhill skiing mountains in Finland except Lapland. As a business student I especially want to learn more about the American marketing and also about the economic system. I hope to get many new lifelong friends from this experience who I can keep in contact with.
