LETTER FROM Alice

Alice

Dear Host Family,

My name is Alice, and I am 16 years old. I was born in a big city in northern Italy, but now I live in a small town in the south of Italy, close to the sea. I am very happy to have the chance to spend six months abroad. I love traveling and learning about new cultures, so this is a dream for me. I think this experience will help me grow, become more independent, and learn more about myself and the world. It’s a big opportunity that I feel lucky to have.

In my free time, I like playing volleyball because it is my favorite sport. I play with a local team. Usually, I train three times per week with my teammates. Volleyball has taught me to be determined, to think positive, and to work jointly with others. It is not only fun, but it also gives me energy and motivation. It helps me stay active and healthy. I also enjoy going out with my friends. We love talking, laughing, and spending time together. Sometimes we go for a walk or get some ice cream.

I am a cheerful and sociable person, and I usually make friends very quickly. I think this is because I am always ready to listen and help others. I am also curious and like asking questions to understand people better. I like to learn from others.

My family is very important to me. Let me talk about my family: my father is an engineer, and he works for some periods far from home. He’s doing many sacrifices for all of us, and I admire him a lot. He always supports me in my decisions and encourages me to do my best. My mother works as a lawyer. She is very kind and understanding, especially now that she has two teenagers at home! I can talk to her about everything, and she always gives me good advice. We often spend time together, especially on weekends. I also have a younger brother, Davide, who is 13 years old and attends middle school. We are very close, even if sometimes we argue, but at the end of the day we always find a way to solve the dispute because we care about each other. He is funny and makes me laugh a lot. I think having a sibling is a beautiful thing. I have sometimes wondered how it would feel to have an older sister or brother who could help me with advice and share experiences with me. Maybe during this exchange I will feel this kind of connection with someone in the host family. That would be amazing. Finally, we have a dog named Harry. He is a five-year-old poodle, and he brings so much happiness to our family. He loves playing and following us around the house. I will miss him a lot while I am away.

I am very excited to meet you and learn about your family. I love discovering new traditions and trying new things, so I am ready to adapt to your way of life. I hope to share my culture with you too. Maybe I can cook some Italian food for you, like pasta or pizza! I hope we will have many great moments together.

Best regards,

Alice
