LETTER FROM Emma

Emma

Dear Host Family,

I am honored and excited about the chance to spend time in the United States as an exchange student.

I come from a family of 2 (me and my mom) We live in an apartment which has been our home for 12 years.

My parents are two hardworking people and they have always been very supportive of me and encourage me to follow my interests. From a young age, they have taught me values such as hard work, kindness, respect, and honesty. I also have a strong connection to my extended family like my grandparents, cousins, aunt and uncle. We often spend time together by celebrating holidays, having family dinners or traveling.

I would describe myself as curious, responsible, kind, hardworking, and open-minded. Friends often say that I am very spontaneous and adventurous person. Of course, I also have weaknesses. One of them is that I’m a very stubborn person. I try to work on it by listening to other people’s opinions and try to understand them even if I don’t agree. I believe that being honest about my strengths and weaknesses is important, because it shows that I am self-aware and motivated to grow. I am not perfect, but I am eager to learn from every experience and improve myself.

I have many hobbies and interests that keep me active and engaged. One of my greatest passions is MMA. I started practicing it when I was 14yo, and it has taught me discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. In addition to MMA, I also enjoy other sports like cycling, swimming, hiking, running, lifting. These activities help me stay healthy and balanced, and they also give me opportunities to meet new people and make new friends.

Besides sports, I am also interested in editing videos. I started editing when I was 11, and it has brought me a lot of joy. This hobby allows me to express myself creatively and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

At school, my favorite subjects are PE, English and History. I enjoy them because they connect to my future goals. When it comes to food, I especially enjoy healthy foods. At home, we often cook fish and eat a lot of vegetables and fruits because my mom is a vegetarian.

The main reason I applied for this program is because I want to grow as a person and challenge myself. I believe that living in another country, speaking a different language, and being part of a new family will help me become more independent and mature. I hope to improve my English skills by practicing them in everyday life, learn about American culture, traditions, and way of life, share my own culture with you and teach you about my country, make lifelong friendships and memories and gain skills that will help me in the future, such as adaptability, communication, and confidence.

I am very thankful for the opportunity to join this program and for your generosity in opening your home to me. I look forward to meeting you, becoming part of your daily life, and sharing unforgettable experiences together.

Warm regards,

Emma
