Dear host family,
I’m Alessandro and I’m from a big city in the north of Italy. Thank you very much for considering my application! In this letter, I’d like to introduce myself and share some of my interests and experiences.
My family includes my mother, father and sister. We always talk during lunch and dinner about a lot of different things, ranging from our daily experiences to current events. I also enjoy doing family activities, like playing board games, watching movies and going for a walk. Furthermore, my sister is part of my circle of friends, so we often spend time together.
I consider myself a calm and altruistic person, quite reserved and reliable. In everyday situations I tend not to act impulsively, but to have a reflective attitude, which leads me to analyze every situation and ponder my decisions. Even though I tend to be reserved, I love being in company and sharing my free time with my friends. I think my greatest strength is my curiosity, a characteristic that I have had since I was a child, which leads me to continually seek new experiences to live or new fields of knowledge to explore. However, I’m a little insecure and self-critical, because I’m afraid of making mistakes.
I have many hobbies and interests. First of all, I play tennis, taking lessons and playing with my friends. I really like hanging out with my friends; it doesn’t matter where we go or what we do, we only want to spend time together. I also watch a lot of different movies and TV series and listen to music. I’m passionate about math and physics and often study them independently. My favourite foods are pizza, pasta, and sushi. My family and I have visited France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Croatia, England, Scotland and the USA (New York). Since all our relatives live in a city in South Italy, we go there every summer and during the Christmas holiday. Other family traditions we have include eating pizza every Saturday night, watching a movie together in the evening, eating traditional Salento dishes during the holidays, and so on.
I am eager to engage with the local community and learn about a different culture. I believe that participating in cultural exchange will further enrich my experience, fostering personal growth and global awareness. I am prepared to embrace the challenges that come with studying abroad, as I view them as opportunities for growth and self-discovery. I am confident that this experience will not only contribute to my academic development but also shape me into a more adaptable and culturally aware individual.
Thank you for reading my letter and for considering the possibility to welcome me into your home.
