LETTER FROM Alize

Alize

Dear future host family,

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Alize, and I am a writing to tell you about my excitement for the opportunity to be a part of your family during my stay in the United States of America.

I am a 14-year-old student from the North of Spain, Bilbao, a beautiful, welcoming city. I am thrilled to be able to live your culture and contribute to your household positively. I am passionate about music (I play violin and sing in a chorus), cooking and baking (I would love to share my recipes with you), reading and watching different sports; such as, Formula 1 and soccer. Likewise, I also practice sport, I do boxing. I’ve been doing it for a year and a half now, and I think I have gotten quite good at it.

Obviously, living with a host family is a huge opportunity for me, to improve my language but also for getting to know new people and live experiences that I wouldn’t be able to in Spain.

I am open-minded, respectful, and adaptable. Also, I would be happy to participate in family activities and helping with chores.

I’ve already had the opportunity to live with an Irish host family for 3 weeks this summer, and I can assure you it was a great experience for both parts. I got to stay with a mom, dad, 4-year-old girl and a baby boy.

I live with my mom and dad in a lovely flat. My mom’s name is Ibone, she is a very hard worker. She works as a tourism flats manager. She always finds time to do things that I like with me, such as shopping. I think we get along very well, I tell her everything. My dad is called Jon Joseba, but everyone calls him Jon. He works as a temporary jobs manager, he is very fun and smart. We have lots of interests in common, like formula 1 or cooking. Our sense of humor is also very similar.I love them both very much. We have two cats, Mika and Barry. They’re siblings even though they don’t look like it because while Mika has yellow fur, Barry’s is black.

I spend lots of time at school, where I enjoy time with my friends. My favorite subjects at the moment are Biology and Geography and History, this last one we teach in English. I really like them because I get to learn how the world works and why it works the way it does.

About my friends, I spend lots of time with them. Our plans aren’t always the most original or fun but we always enjoy them. Some of our usuals are: going to the cinema, shopping, going for a walk or just sit in a bench near our houses and talk. Recently I’ve been doing Christmas themed plans with an specific group of friends. We have built gingerbread houses, decorated a Christmas tree and we will be going ice skating soon.

Even if I really like my friends, I also enjoy staying in. Those days I spend time on my phone, probably do some homework, clean up my room and maybe bake something. If I’m bored I tend to: paint my nails, play an instrument or read a book, I like romance books.

Again, I am very much excited to live this experience.

Thank you for your consideration.

Warm regards,

Alize
