| Dear host family, I think this is the most important letter I have ever written!! I want to thank you with all my heart for the opportunity to welcome me into your home, and to be another member of your family. My name is Amalia, and I am 15 years old. I live in Madrid, Spain, with my mum Begoña, my sister Paula and my little dog Nala. I am really excited preparing for this experience, and thinking about the opportunity to get to know a country as amazing as the United States. My cousins and some of my friends have lived this experience, and they have transmitted to me everything that is learned, how wonderful it is to know your culture and customs, and how beautiful your country is. I never thought I could have an opportunity like this. I would like to tell you some things about myself, about my family, about my hobbies, so that you can get to know me a little better. As I mentioned, I live in Madrid (Spain), the city where I was born, with my mother and my sister. My father passed away when I was two years old, and my sister had just been born. Although I was not able to share many things with him, he is always in our thoughts and prayers. We really miss him a lot. Despite this, my mother, my sister and I are very close and we take great care of each other. We are a great team!! My grandparents and the rest of my family don’t live in Madrid, they live in Asturias, in the north of Spain, but we talk every week and see each other whenever we can. Although we do not have family living in Madrid, we have great and wonderful friends close to us who we love like our family. I consider myself as a sociable person, active, affectionate and talkative. My friends use to tell me that I am always happy and they consider that I am good tempered. I always have a smile on my face! I always try to create a great link with the people around me, because I usually get attached too fast and I love having a lot of friends who enjoy my free time with. I am a very good student, I try to try my best. I love subjects that are related to literature, philosophy. I study at a school in Madrid, very close to my house. Two years ago, I started playing volleyball, a sport that since the first day I love it. I play in the school team, and I am the captain of the team. I also like spending time with my family and friends. I love to spend my free time with my friends. I have great friends at school, and in the neighborhood where I live. I have always studied at the same school, since I was three years old, so I have a strong bond with my friends during all these years, which I hope will never be broken! I am usually the happiest and funniest member of my family. I always try to bring a smile to everyone I love, and I never get tired of dancing and singing. We are a very joined family, and we take care of each other, especially since my father passed away when I was a baby. I hope to bring happiness and a very nice atmosphere to your home. Referring to the next year in the USA, I am so excited, and I really hope to meet new people, and enjoy this year with you, knowing the culture and the habits in your country.
