Dear family,

Hello, I’m Anelís and I’m almost 15 years old. I’m a very cheerful, affectionate and smiling girl. I love playing sports, I practice volleyball. I train in a pavilion 4 hours during the week. Some days we work out and do exercises like: jumps, running… I compete in official competitions. This year my team and I will compete in competitions since we got in the third position in volleyball regional phases. Other of my passions is painting. I paint paintings, watercolors… I have been learning for 8 years in a painting school, in those years I’ve painted paintings for all my family, my grandparents, uncles, cousins, friends…

I live in Spain, in a very quiet and warm village, around my village there is a lot of nature and the beach is just 20 minutes away. In my village there are a lot of parks, supermarkets, shops, a cinema… I love living here with my family and my friends!

In my family we are 4 members. My father is 46 years old, my mother is 44 years old and my big sister is 18 years old, she also was an exchange student and was able to live this amazing experience. My father works in a plastic factory and my mother in an electronic factory. My big sister is a student, she goes to college and teaches English to kids in our neighbourhood.

We have a camper van, and many weekends we spend the weekend in the countryside picking up mushrooms, chestnuts, asparagus… we also love going to the beach. We love spending time together and doing all kind of activities in family.

With my father I have a great time because he likes to joke and do funny things and he makes me laugh a lot. With my mother I have a really good relationship, I enjoy cooking and baking with her, we love doing cakes, cookies, and all kind of confectionary… also we love doing afternoon cinema days in our house. The relationship with my sister is very good. Since we share the same passions, volleyball and painting. She usually helps me with my homework, we also play and talk a lot, she’s like my best friend!

I’m studying 3 ESO (9th grade USA). My high school is very big and has a giant playground, a canteen, a library, and the hall is fulled with lockers.

We have 2 recess a day, the playground is where I spend most of the time with my friends, during the first recess we eat lunch, in the second recess we relax, talk or study.

In the future I want to be a lawyer because I would like to defend the people that needs it and it will be my dream that one day I can become one.

After classes, in the evenings 2 days a week I have volleyball practices, 1 day I have painting lessons. I’m busy during the week with the activities and studies, so I only have one or two days to meet with my friends. We have a nice group of boys and girls of the same age and the same high school. We usually meet during the weekends or on friday afternoons and we go to: the cinema, to eat a sandwich, take photos or go to the park. In my free time I usually help my parents with the housework: doing the laundry, making my bed, dusting, cleaning the room… I like to cook with my mum. I practically eat everything, although what I like most is: bolognese macaroni, chinese food, paella, potato omelet… and I don’t like green pepper or sushi.

When my family and I have free time or holidays: weekends, Christmas, Easter week, Halloween… we go on the camper van to visit different towns, cities or places to enjoy its cuisine and its landscapes. In the summer holidays we usually go 20 days at camping’s or free campings. Also we sometimes go to a hotel, for example one of the places I went to is Disney Land Paris! I loved it, but I don’t remember a lot because I was little. In the Christmas holidays we usually meet with my family, both with the family of my dad or my mom’s family, although it doesn’t have to be Christmas to get together, they all live near me and I see them frequently.

I’m very excited to live this experience, enrich myself as a person and improve my English level. Although I know I will miss a lot my family, I know that participating in this program will make me enjoy the experience at full. I’m looking forward to meet and be part of my American family. I would love to show you my culture and learn about yours.
