LETTER FROM Arthur

Arthur

Hello, my name is Arthur, and I’m 16 years old. I live in Brazil with my family, which consists of four members: me, my mom, who is a commercial and marketing director; my dad, who is a journalist and communication consultant; and my little brother, who is 10 years old. I also have an older brother who lives and works in another city. We have two dogs, and I am responsible for taking care of them most of the time.

My family and I love spending time together, and our favorite activity is undoubtedly traveling, especially to the beautiful beaches in our region. Whenever possible, we go on trips. We also enjoy playing cards, board games, and video games. I like to cook with my mom sometimes, too.

My biggest interest is definitely basketball. I’ve been practicing this sport since 2021, and during this time, I have been working hard to improve my skills. I have played on my local team and participated in a sports exchange program in the USA, where I had intense daily practices. I started playing basketball due to the influence of a national idol who became the basketball coach at my school that year. He participated in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and is a close friend of one of the greatest names in Brazilian basketball.

I play as a point guard and was chosen as the captain of my school’s team. I also participate in several social initiatives with a group of young people aimed at creating a better world. Additionally, I contribute to a charity project promoted by my school, which involves donating basic items to those in need. This year, I was elected as my class representative for this project.

My favorite time of year is the summer holidays because of the celebrations and the time my family spends together at the beach. Regarding my personality, I consider myself a mature and responsible young man. Although I can be a bit shy, I have a great ability to make friends and engage in meaningful conversations. I have my own opinions and a strong sense of justice, and the teachings of my parents, along with my experiences at school and in various groups, have helped me develop good values. I believe that basketball has played a significant role in this aspect. Through both defeats and victories, I have matured and built my character.

During this exchange, I hope to delve deeper into American culture and experience its traditions. I also want to take advantage of my time in a country known for basketball to further improve my skills in the sport. Another goal is to enhance my English to the point where I can speak fluently. I want to fully enjoy the experience of studying at a high school in the United States with focus and dedication. Furthermore, I hope this exchange will help me become more autonomous and improve my personality and character. And, of course, I look forward to going on tours and trips to explore new places in your country.

Thank you for reading my letter and considering my application!
