Dear Host Family,

Hello from Italy! My name is Azzurra and I’m 17 years old. I’m really excited about the possibility of staying with you and I would like to tell you a little bit more about myself, my life here, and what I hope to experience during this exchange.

I live in Italy with my parents and my younger brother. We are a close family and we like spending time together, especially during meals or when we go on small trips at the weekend. At home I enjoy listening to music, going to the gym, and meeting up with my friends. I also like relaxing with my family, watching movies, or just talking together. I’m very curious about other cultures, and that’s why I enjoy watching documentaries and reading about how people live in different countries. American culture in particular has always fascinated me, so I can’t wait to experience it for myself.

One of my main goals for this exchange is to improve my English and to feel more confident when I speak it. But even more than that, I want to experience everyday life in your country and to see the world from another point of view. I’m excited about trying new foods, joining family activities, and maybe even discovering hobbies I have never tried before. I’m really looking forward to learning about your traditions, your celebrations, and even the small things you do in daily life that are different from mine.

At the same time, I’d love to share my own culture with you. I enjoy cooking and I would be happy to prepare some Italian dishes for you, like pasta carbonara or lasagna. I could also teach you some Italian words and phrases, tell you about our festivals, or show you pictures of beautiful places in my country. I think it would be fun to exchange stories and traditions, because this way we both learn something new and the experience becomes even more special.

As for myself, I would say I’m a respectful, adaptable, and curious person. At first, I can be a little shy, but I usually get more open once I feel comfortable. I really try to be friendly and considerate with others, and I’m ready to do my part in your family, whether it’s helping with chores, joining activities, or simply respecting your rules and your way of life. I know that living in a new environment will take some adjustment, but I see this as a chance to grow, become more independent, and discover more about myself too.
