Dear host family,

Before I start with my presentation, I want to thank you for your time and interest in participating in this wonderful adventure that is just beginning and I hope it will be unforgettable. My name is Brais, I’m 15 years old and I live in a city of approximately 300,000 inhabitants in the north of Spain. My family is made up of my father, who is a police officer, my mother, who is a refrigerated truck saleswoman, my sister, who is 18 years old and is studying to go to university next year because she wants to become a doctor. She was an exchange student in California two years ago. I want to be a policeman too. The four of us live in a flat and we don’t have pets, although I would love to have them. I really enjoy playing with the dog and the cat at my aunt’s house. As for my family life, I usually watch movies with my sister or with my parents at home. We also like to enjoy trips with our cousins or go to the movies together. I watch Barca’s soccer matches with my father and I go to see my city’s team’s soccer matches with my uncles.

I am a serious-looking young man, but I like to enjoy time with my friends and family, I am constant and persevering in my studies and I face with determination all the challenges that are proposed to me. I really enjoy travelling with my family. Every year we go on holiday to some places in Spain or Europe, we enjoy going to the beach or getting to know new places. This year we have been to Paris and to Disneyland. With my friends, I usually play soccer on a field close to our house and sometimes I also invite them to sleep over at my house and we play PlayStation, we play Fifa or Fortnite, or we watch horror movies. I also go out with them for a walk or to eat something.

At school, I am a good student, this year I have set myself the goal of getting an Honorable Mention at the end of my studies, although I am also quite talkative with my classmates. I like to collaborate with them on schoolwork and help them to get good grades. I really like sports. I currently play soccer 3 days a week, but throughout my life I have played different sports. When I was 5-6 years old I skated with my sister for 2 years. When I was 7-8 years old I practiced dance. When I was 9 and 10 years old I did track and field. I also practiced swimming from the age of 3 to 14. Finally, since I was 9 years old, I have been playing soccer, although I also played it when I was 5 years old. In the United States I would like to play American football or rugby, since here in Spain it is not a sport that is practiced. As for food, I especially like meat and pasta, I love salads, meatballs, chicken, rice, ham croquettes, potato omelette, etc.

I am looking forward to starting the best adventure of my life. I hope to speak perfect English, but above all to meet new people, enjoy their culture and experiences with my new family and share the traditions of both countries.
