LETTER FROM Clara

Clara

Dear future host family,

First of all, I would like to say thank you. I really appreciate having the opportunity to visit your country, learn about it and experience American life. My name is Clara, I am 16 years old and I life in a small village in the south of Germany with my family and my dog Joseph. I am the youngest daughter of five children. Three of my siblings already moved out, only my sister Charly and I still live at home.

In my freetime I often spend time with my family and friends. As a family we sometimes spend evenings playing board games. During the winter we often go skiing in the Alps on the weekends. I am really close with my sister Charly, we both go to the same school in the next bigger city and love spending time together with our dog Joseph. My friend group consists of six people with whom you can have lots of fun. In summer time we do outdoor activities like swimming or to go the nearest theme park. Whenever the weather is bad we often meet at each others houses, go shopping or simply spend time together.

I have a big interest in all kinds of science, especially chemistry, biology and physics. Furthermore I love music, I play the piano and I have been in the orchestra and in the choir for a few years now. Another hobby of mine includes sewing as I have recently started sewing tiny bags or pencil cases… I would describe myself as an open minded person who does not have any prejudices. I do not have a problem talking to people I do not know. I enjoy being in a group of people and exchange opinions, experiences or values.

Since the time I visited my sister in her own exchange year in Lancaster (PA), it has been a dream of mine to make my own experiences, to make friends on the other side of the world and to improve myself. For the future I hope that I can make as much as possible out of my exchange year. I want to get to know American culture, school and the American way of life. I wish that my dreams come true…

I am really hoping that we will have a wonderful time together and I am already grateful that you give me a chance to stay at your home and start my journey…

Greetings from Germany!

Yours Clara 😉
