LETTER FROM Cristina

Cristina

Dear future Host Family,

This letter, for me, is a big step to this exciting experience and I know this exchange year would be a dream come true.

Since ever I have dreamed to study on the United States. I have a sharp vision, a year full of adventures, learnings, and form part of a different culture, where I can learn new traditions. Lastly to learn how to be more independent and live an American lifestyle for 10 months which means so much to me.

My name is Cristina, I´m a charming and nice girl. At first, I´m shy, but I never stop being a friendly person. I always help people when I know they need it. I think this shows how my personality is, and I would say that I have a big heart.

I love spending time with my family, we all take care of each other. Both of my parents make an effort always so we can be happy, healthy, etc. They have raised us properly; they teach us every day to be hardworking girls, have goals, be good people and to keep having a positive attitude.

I am the middle child of three. I have two sisters; the older one is called Victoria, and she is 16 years old. The younger is called Carolina, and she is 10 years old. We love each other, and we always worry about each other. We usually spend time together going to our weekend house, in the highlands of Madrid. This house is in a small town, where there are lots of plans that I like to do with my friends. I like to be outdoors especially when the weather is nice. We go and ride our bikes or just hang out and talk.

My favorite memories will always be from summer vacations when we go one week to the beach.

My family also includes my grandparents, who made my life more special. They are intelligent people who guide me throw learnings with advice.

School is an important part of my life. My favorites subjects are geography, English, and language. I’m now a bit curious of how schools in the US are and trying new subjects and activities. Many of my friends are from school so I can´t wait to meet new people in the American school.

Besides school, I’m an active person in sports or hobbies. I have done rhythmic gymnastics since I was 4. We have a great team which is the best one in our category in the community of Madrid. This has taught me teamwork. I also play tennis two days a week, a thing that I enjoy a lot.

One thing that I am excited about is to show you is all my culture, the food that I like, for example the croquettes, and the traditions and holidays we celebrate. In my point of view, it will be interesting to share from both sides our favorite things of each culture, it would be great that you could show me American typical food, American holidays, etc.

I know living in other country far away from my family, friends, etc., can be a challenge but I´m really to try it. I am ready to adapt to trying new things even if they are totally different from the things I am accustomed to. I think having patience to adapt will help me during this exchange year.

I also think that this year will help me learn to be more independent and have more confidence in myself. Being away from home for a whole year will be a big step, but why not give it a try? I hope to learn new skills and have experiences that I can share with my friends and family back home.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I hope it has given you an idea of who I am and what I can bring to your family. I am looking forward to this adventure and can’t wait to meet you. I am sure that this year will be full of fun, new friends, learning, and unforgettable moments that we will always remember.
