Dear future Host Family,
My name is Daniel and I can’t believe I’m already writing this letter, which means I’m about to start an amazing experience. Going to the USA for ten months is something I have wanted for 5 years, and now it’s going to happen! I am very excited to start this experience and to meet you soon.
I want you to get to know me a little bit, so I will tell you about me. I am 14 years old and I live in Spain with my family, my parents and 2 little brothers. My parents and 2 younger siblings. I love my family – we like to spend time together. For example going on excursions, traveling around Spain or Europe, going to the movies, I know I will miss them, but I also hope I can be part of your family there! I love spending time with my parents, (they both work but there is always one of them at home to play) and I love going to the stadium with my dad every Sunday.I’m a nice person; my dad always tells my siblings that I’m a really good big brother and I try to beeing it.
I love meeting new people, trying new things and learning about different cultures. On weekends I like to go with my friends to play soccer at school or we rent a place where we can play soccer, because that’s what we like the most. It’s my favorite sport I started playing when I was 3 years old but I also want to learn and practice other different sports typical from USA. Once in a while we go to dinner or to a concert or event downtown, and after that, we go for a Burger, or a Kebab…. I love food from different countries! The rest of the weekend we spend as a family. Sometimes we just watch a movie, eat popcorn and chips, or play board games. I cherish those moments together. During school vacations, we travel with some of our relatives (my mom’s family is huge, as she has 8 siblings, so I am lucky to have many cousins who I adore and love spending vacations with) or we travel with some families from our community, which I also enjoy, as they are all neighbors and mostly schoolmates. As a family, we try to travel abroad once a year, or every other year. Last summer we were in Denmark and had a lot of fun together at Legoland.
This exchange is a big step for me, and I know it will be full of challenges, fun times, and learning. I am super excited to try everything, improve in English and share my culture with you. I hope my parents will be proud of me after this year because I know they will miss me a lot, but they want the best for me, and they are sure that this year will bring me many good things for my future. Thank you for reading my letter, for your time and interest, I really appreciate it! I hope to see you soon.
Best regards,
Dani
