| Dear host family, It is a great pleasure to write this letter and show a little bit of who I am. I hope I can give you an insight about myself, my family, my personality, and my hobbies and show my expectations about this program. Even though I am only 16 years old, I have already experienced living abroad and dealing with people from all over the world. I have lived in Qatar, the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East. In Qatar, I had the opportunity to study at an international school. Currently, I am living with my parents, my 7-year-old brother, and my grandmother in my mother’s hometown, a small city in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. We enjoy traveling together to the beach and the aquatic park. We love to go out for açai, a typical Brazilian ice cream. We have lots of fun together and being with my family is a special time for me. As for my personality, I am a responsible person. I am creative, helpful, and friendly. I think I should train myself to be more patient, less straightforward, and not so perfectionist. My friends and family describe me as a good listener, caring, respectful, and dependable person. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, swimming on a sunny warm day, going to the shopping mall, going out with my friends, and having a barbecue. One of the dishes that I like is pasta and pizza. As a Brazilian, I enjoy eating rice, beans, meat, and vegetables. The times of the year that I love the most are Christmas and New Year’s Eve because I enjoy having all my family together, every year. As a family tradition, we take pictures as a way to connect us with our memories. I enjoy visiting my aunt sometimes, who has a huge dog, named David Bowie. “Bowie” is a German Shepherd who loves playing. Besides being so big, I love “his” tenderness. In closing, living abroad is one of my biggest dreams in life. I am putting all my heart, soul, and effort into making this dream come true. I understand that a good relationship with my host family is mandatory for the successful overcoming of this experience, so I am very confident that I will meet a host family that will receive me in their home as a family member and that we will be able to share special moments. What I hope to gain from this valuable experience are: meeting new people, traveling to new places, and increasing my cultural awareness of the country that has always fascinated me.
