LETTER FROM Emma

Emma

Dear future family,

My name is Emma, I am 14 years old, well almost 15, and I am from Madrid in Spain.

I live with my parents, my older brother who I love a lot !! and also with my dog Tambo, in a town near Madrid, nearby countryside because my family and I really like nature and we enjoy walking my dog together.

I consider myself a very family-oriented, positive, calm and observant girl who loves to live new experiences and adventures.

Since I was little I have traveled around the world with my parents. I love getting to know new countries, different cultures and above all, trying other cuisines.

I am a good student and the subjects I like the most are biology, literature and photography.

In my free time I usually read, I especially like mystery, fantasy and young love books.

In my family, sport is so important, so since I was little we have always practiced some sport. I have practiced rugby, basketball and for the last two years, I have been swimming on the team in my town. Recently I won my first silver medal in the 100m butterfly. Also in summer my brother and I love to surf when we go on vacation to the beach and in winter I go skiing with my classmates.

I love the weekends when the family gets together to have a barbecue or a paella (a typical Spanish dish with rice and fish) and I can spend time with my little cousins, my uncles and my grandparents.

I like to learn things from my grandparents, my grandmother Mari is a good cook, I usually help her make family recipes like “rosquillas” or “buñuelos”, they are similar to donuts, or spanish omelet, which is my favorite, while she tells me stories from when I was little .

On weekends I sometimes go out with my friends and we go to the mall, to the cinema to watch a movie or just spend time together.

One of the traditions that I like to celebrate the most is Christmas, especially “The three wise men day” on January 6th, because the whole family gets together and open the presents.

Since I was very little I have liked the idea of studying in the United States, I am very excited to learn new traditions and share mine. I would love to improve my English and become more fluent. I think it’s a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to getting started.

I hope this helps you get to know me a little, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my greatest dream and for accepting me. I really want to experience this cultural exchange and get to know you.

See you soon!

Emma
