Dear Host Family,
First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for considering taking me in as part of your family. lt means so much to me that you are willing to give me this opportunity. Your generosity and openness touch me deeply, and I am truly grateful for this chance to become a part of your life and to share this special year with you.
My name is Erik, and I am 1 years old. I live in a village in Germany with my mother and my brother Nils. Unfortunately, my father died of a heart attack when I was 3 years old. For about 10 years my mother has had a very friendly man at her side again. However, we do not live together but have a good relationship and do many things together.
I am currently in the ninth grade and am very excited about the opportunity to spend a year in the USA as part of an exchange program.
One of my main goals for this exchange is to build a strong bond with my host family.
I would love to be part of a family where we spend time together and create lasting memories. I would also be very happy to have siblings or pets in my host family, as l love animals and have a pet cat called Gizmo.
For many years, I have been a passionate basketball player and play actively in a team. Basketball has brought me a lot of joy and has taught me discipline and teamwork. Playing basketball during my stay in the USA would be a dream for me, as it is a great way to connect with others and stay active.
Besides sports, I am also interested in sewing and have a keen interest in fashion and design. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and meeting with friends. With my height of 6 feet 6 inches, basketball has been perfect for me, and I am always eager to take on new challenges. I am also very open to trying new activities and getting to know the hobbies, traditions, and life of my host family.
I really want to connect with people and learn from different cultures, as it is very important to me in my life.
I look forward to immersing myself in American culture, experiencing holidays like Thanksgiving, and seeing how daily life in the USA differs from what I am used to in Germany.
I also hope to make lifelong friendships and create memories that I will always cherish. I believe that living in the USA with a host family does not just mean experiencing a new culture but also sharing my own. l look forward to telling you about German traditions, teaching you some German words, and cooking traditional dishes for you.
Thank you for considering me as a member of your family. I am very grateful for the opportunity to share this unique experience with you and to learn from you. I hope to bring positivity, openness, and enthusiasm into your home and to build a special bond with you during my exchange year.
I look forward to hearing from you.
