Dear future Host Family,
First I want to thank you for considering me as your future exchange student and giving me the opportunity to make my forever dream, of doing an exchange year in the USA, come true.
My name is Florian and I am currently 15 years old, but I will be 16 when I arrive in the USA. My family consists of my mother Astrid, my father Fritz, my younger sister Johanna and me.
I am now starting the 10th grade of a typical German “Gymnasium”, which is the highest possible school form in Germany.
I enjoy spending my free time hanging out with friends and family, reading, going on walks or doing things like knitting, painting or writing. In general I like to do many things and try something new whenever I get the chance, but my favorite two activities are cooking and baking. I love to cook for my sister after school or bake a cake for a special occasion or just to surprise my friends with their favorite cake at school. I would also love to cook and bake for you, especially German desserts, which, in my opinion, anyone should try at least once in their life.
When I am with my loved ones I like to do activities, which everyone can enjoy together, like playing board games or watching a movie. I also like to go to church with my friends, though that is not something I necessarily expect from you, if you do not want to.
At home I like to keep my things organized, which is why I help out with washing and drying the laundry, washing the dishes, vacuuming or any other household chore. But for me the most important thing to ensure everyone feels comfortable in the home is communicating with each other, whether that is about things someone does or does not like, situations where someone felt unfairly treated or any other unresolved issue.
Even though my family doesn’t have any pets, I am a very pet friendly person. I love being around any kind of animal, because in their own way each and everyone of them makes me feel loved and welcomed, keeps me energized through playing with them or just makes me feel responsible for them.
I am also very good with, especially younger, children. Whenever my distant cousins from Switzerland come visit, I play with their children, I comfort them when they need me to, I just love to spend time with them. I also did two internships at my old daycare and its “sister daycare” where I learned many new things and had a very good experience. If I ever had the chance to I would love to do it again.
Thank you again, I look forward to meeting you soon,
Best regards, Florian.
