Dear future host family!

First of all, I would like to thank you for making my greatest wish “A school year in the USA” possible. I hope you are doing well. Since I don’t know anything about you yet, I’ll start by telling you something about myself.

My name is Freya. I am 15 years old. I live with my family in the north of Germany. My family includes my mother, my father, my little brother Arthur and of course Toni my cat. I love spending time with my family, especially going on trips with them, e.g. to a theme park or the beach.

In my free time, I do rhythmic gymnastics in a competitive group. I don’t know if you know what that is. Rhythmic gymnastics is a mixture of gymnastics and ballet. I’m also a rhythmic gymnastics coach for the younger children. I love children and I also do babysitting. If you have smaller children, I could definitely look after them.

I also love acting, being in nature and doing things with animals. My favourite animals are cats and horses. Sometime during vacations, I go horse riding. Further, I like decorating – especially at Christmas time – and spending time with my friends. I love my hobbies, but I’m also very open to trying other things. For example, I would like to try cheerleading.

I’m really looking forward to going to an American high school. Here in Germany, I’m currently in the 9th grade at a secondary school. I ride my bike to school every morning with a friend. My favorite subjects are sports and theater. My father also did a year abroad in the USA when he was at school, and when he told me about it, I immediately knew that I definitely wanted to do a year abroad in the USA. Because I think the USA is just a really great and interesting country.

I also love getting to know new cultures and countries and I want to improve my English. I am a very open, cheerful, curious person. I am really looking forward to my year abroad in the USA, as this is my biggest dream. I would like to integrate myself into the family and help out around the house. I could also do some cooking and babysitting.
